The FNS40821 Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking is the entry-level qualification for people who want to work in the finance and mortgage broking industry.
This online course is suitable for new entrants as well as people already working in the industry who need to gain a formal mortgage broking qualification.
As part of the course, you will complete 12 units of competency. The course is nationally recognised and available to students in NSW, QLD, VIC, SA, WA, TAS and NT. It is also approved by the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA).
You will build theoretical and technical knowledge across key areas including the loan process, financial services regulation, mortgage broking management, best interests duty and related industry requirements.
Each module includes learning resources, assessment tasks, knowledge questions and video role plays. NREL provides the course content you need to complete your assessments, and you can message trainers through the learning portal if you need support with the course content or assessment requirements.
To complete the course, you must complete all required learning and assessment activities and be deemed Satisfactory in all 12 units of competency.
Before you enrol
To complete NREL’s FNS40821 Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking, you will need:

What you’ll learn in this mortgage broking course
NREL recommends allowing an average of 8-10 hours to complete each unit of competency. There are 12 units in total. These hours are based on previous NREL course completions, and the time required may vary from student to student.
The course includes practical skills assessment tasks, knowledge questions and video role plays. You have 6 months from enrolment to complete the full course and submit all required assessment work.
Once you complete your assessments, they will be marked by NREL’s assessment team. Standard grading time is 10 business days from completion of your course. Once you are deemed Satisfactory in all units, you will receive your qualification.
